Nuestras residencias:

Residency 01 (2015/2016)
Between December 2015 and January 2016 we carried out the first Artistic Residency at Nube Lab. Together with the team of artist-teachers, we met during the summer months at the Nube Workshop to share creative processes around the idea of the «artist’s workshop» and answer questions such as: what happens in these places, how do you spend your time, how do we behave when starting a project? The answers gave rise to nourishing conversations and small-format works that were later shown at Nube.

Soporte Común (2020)

We invited 11 artists specialized in different techniques, but united by having been active participants in Nube Lab’s activities and workshops: 11 artist-teachers who have been part of our history. Connected both virtual and face-to-face, we carried out a periodic and collective work with the aim of reflecting on the pandemic we were going through and to define low-cost artistic means and formats so that there is art in every home. We united around silkscreen printing, a technique that gave us the possibility to reproduce images on paper and amplify the visibility of the works to a heterogeneous public, especially the school community with which we interact.

Art+education experiences in Latin America (2022)
With the aim of strengthening the artistic-educational processes and the professional capacities of our team, this year we undertook a seven-month residency with six Latin American projects from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, Colombia, Peru and Chile.
Based on horizontal exchange, the artist-teachers of Nube Lab were commissioned to materialize new pedagogical activities for the children and young people who benefit from Nube’s programmes as well as for the institutions participating in the process. This new challenge culminated in the publication of a logbook containing all the activities created during the residency, as well as records of the process, reflective texts and a cartography that maps and summarizes the research on Latin American artistic residencies focused on education and the link with their social contexts of origin.

First residency for social innovation: Conocer para cuidar (2022)
The first residency for social innovation «Conocer para Cuidar» held between November 2022 and January 2023, aimed to use the Nube Workshop as a collaborative space for the creation of social solutions. During this residency, questions were explored about what value artistic practice has for specific communities and it was investigated whether art could contribute to a policy of care for green areas that would strengthen the relationship between workers and visitors of Padre Hurtado Park. The fundamental premise is that art and culture are social tools that promote communication, a sense of belonging and the ability to imagine a better world. Based on this, a three-stage program was created: design, diagnosis and prototyping. An interdisciplinary team of artists, social science professionals and members of the park community led this process. Field research was conducted, information was gathered through surveys, and creative activities were carried out in the Nube Workshop. As a result, prototypes were created for artistic and utilitarian solutions that could be implemented in the park to improve the conditions identified during the diagnosis.

Second residency for social innovation: De un arte para mirar a un arte para jugar (2023)
With the aim of bringing art closer to the people and making Nube Lab an engaging space that puts artistic practice at the service of the community, we developed our 2nd Residency for Social Innovation. The purpose of this initiative was for young artists to work with communities and audiences outside the artistic field, expanding their practices and creating relational projects for the public space. The seven-month program included training sessions with lectures and analysis, prototyping and design sessions with architect Francisca Cortínez, and production sessions with Óscar Ossandón and his team. Six artists participated in the residency, guided by the Nube Lab team. Although in the beginning the idea of relational projects for the public space was considered, during the residency the concept of «Sculpture Plays» was born. In addition, the idea of a festival was conceived, where these sculpture-games would have an encounter and interaction with the community in a festive and playful atmosphere. This concept materialized in the 1st Sculpture-Games Festival, which took place on December 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Parque Padre Hurtado.
